- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 8 oz dark chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking dish by lining it with parchment paper.
- Soften the butter at room temperature. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the flour to the butter mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the surface.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- While the shortbread cools, melt the dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the cooled shortbread, spreading evenly. Allow to set.
- Once the chocolate is firm, slice into bars and serve.
